About

The story so far.

How it started

I didn't set out to start a media company.

The AHF Podcast began with a modest job: give the Anterior Hip Foundation a bigger presence online. But episode after episode, I found myself absorbed by the conversations themselves — the way expert surgeons think, how differently they approach the same problem, and the way a few of them are already circling problems that have seen us before we've seen them.

Then came From Idea to Market, a series about how med tech innovation actually happens. We talked with people on the clinical side and people on the business and technology side, and I found those conversations — and the craft of putting the series together — fascinating in a way I hadn't expected.

Somewhere in there, the idea took shape: conversations among people with surgical, technical, business, and patient-care expertise are worth producing well — not just for surgeons, but for the med tech industry, for health systems, and for the patients all of it ultimately serves. When people on very different ends of that spectrum started asking whether I'd take on other media projects, it stopped feeling like a side project and started feeling like a company.

The name was the easy part. My work is joint replacement — hips mostly, with research in knees and joint preservation — and the thing I kept coming back to was the partnership between surgeons and industry. Joint Venture Orthopaedics captured both meanings at once. The domain was even available.

What we're building

A voice for the intersection of joint arthroplasty and med tech — toward innovation, entrepreneurship, better patient outcomes, and the advancement of surgical care.

We get there through thoughtful, insightful, occasionally unusual conversations.

How we work

The guest is the story.

A lot of medical media is built around a personality. Ours is built around the conversation. Our job is to ask good questions, edit honestly, and keep the focus on the people and ideas worth hearing — not on the host.

And we edit noise, keep signal: everything we make cuts to what changes practice, business, or thinking. If it doesn't, it's cut.
